This Golden '50s relic Custom Shop Strat combines classic looks with modern features for an amazing playing experience! Reliced for looks and playability, the Ash body is finished in a gorgeous Dirty White Blonde finish while the quartersawn Maple neck features a vintage tint finish that's worn away for a real played-in feel. The '54 single coils provide all the sparkle, twang, and quack players expect from a Strat. A five-way switch has been installed for those ''in-between'' sounds that Strats are known for. The anodized pickguard and Gold hardware adds a complementary finish to this amazing guitar

This offering from the Gibson custom shop is based on the 1956 Les Paul “Goldtop” model which featured two P-90 pickups, an adjustable ABR-1 bridge with stop tailpiece and, as the name suggests, a stunning gold finish sprayed over a flame maple top.

This particular model has a VOS (Vintage Original Spec) nitrocellulose finish which gives it a subtle aged look, and features True Historic hardware which faithfully replicates the appointments of the original. These features give the guitar the look and feel of a vintage instrument without the hefty price tag of an original ’56 model!

Construction

The lightweight (non-weight-relieved) mahogany body and solid mahogany neck with long tenon give this guitar that recognisable Les Paul sustain that’ll really shine through in your solos. A small, but significant feature is the use of hot hide glue to secure the neck joint and the maple top. Hide glue makes for a tighter and stronger binding between the two pieces of wood which contributes to the great sustain of this guitar and adds stability that will only improve with age.

True Historic Appointments

The use of True Historic appointments on this instrument means that when you pick this guitar up it has that visual and physical vibe of an original. Gibson have meticulously studied the materials used in original models and recreated them so that everything from the pickup covers and control knobs to the pickguard and switch tip have that vintage look and feel.

Pickups

Les Pauls of this era were known for their dual P-90 sound. The custom P-90s in the neck and bridge will give you that classic fat, articulate single coil tone that’s perfect for jazz and blues and really roars when you to turn up the gain for more classic rock sounds

The Gibson Custom Shop 56 Les Paul Goldtop offers high-quality American craftsmanship, materials and components; giving you a piece of that iconic Goldtop look and sound without the cost and hassle of acquiring a vintage model.

Fender built several instruments in the late ’60s made completely of hand-selected rosewood. These were in production only very briefly and are now highly collectable on the vintage market. Jimi Hendrix reportedly had one of the first Rosewood Stratocaster® guitars, and George Harrison of the Beatles used one of the original Rosewood Telecaster guitars on Let It Be and for the famous Apple Records rooftop concert in January 1969.

So when you marry Rock n Roll history like that with the incredibly deft hands of Masterbuilder John Cruz, you get what may be one of the finest Rosewood Tele’s to ever have existed. Built in 2007, this guitar is still in great shape. Gorgeous Rosewood was chosen for this instrument and you will surely find yourself captivated by the grain of this beautiful dark wood.

Fender's special edition Reclaimed Eastern Pine Stratocaster has a distinctively rustic look and elegant charm, with a body fashioned from reclaimed pine originally used in 1868 in the construction of a dairy barn in the small rural community of Lake Odessa, Mich. The knots, gashes, dings, nail holes and other anomalies in the wood are left intact and unconcealed, so that no two guitars in this limited-number issue are identical.

Further emphasizing the guitar's one-of-a-kind appearance are a dark satin lacquer stain that accentuates the beauty of the body wood, hardware specially treated to appear slightly worn, and a rosewood neck with a hand-rubbed oil finish and comfortable "modern C"-shaped profile. Other features include a 9.5"-radius rosewood fingerboard with 22 medium jumbo frets, three Fender Custom Shop Fat '50s single-coil Stratocaster pickups with five-way switching, "unbuffed" single-ply black pickguard, two-point synchronized tremolo bridge with vintage-style stamped steel saddles, Micro-TiltGäó neck adjustment, laser-etched headstock logo and more.
