Gibson Customs Collectors Choice series is devoted to painstaking replication of choice original vintage Les Pauls. As a result, these guitars bring players and collectors closer to owning a specific, existing vintage Les Paul than anything else available on the market. Collectors Choice #11, 1959 Les Paul 9-0925 aka Rosie is not only an extremely pristine reproduction, but also represents perhaps the best-preserved vintage Les Paul that the team at Gibson Custom has ever encountered. While all Les Pauls made between 1958 and 1960 are exceedingly rare, finding one in such stunningly original condition in the hands of only its second owner is simply a breathtaking experience. In addition to her lineage, Rosie has obviously seen very little sunlight in her time, and fully retains her original and unfaded dark cherry finish like few other vintage Les Pauls. Through intimate and painstaking study of the original guitar, Gibson Custom has crafted an uncompromising re-creation of this incredible guitar. Distinct and individual details include her late-50s soft V neck shape, Rosies precise top carve with precise renditions of every critical angle and curve, and a pair of custom-wound Custom Bucker PAF reproductions designed, engineered, and built based on extensive testing of the originals, to capture that essential burst tone. In short, Rosie is as close as you can come to owning the real thing.BodyCarved maple top hand-selected to accurately match the original, and lightweight, one-piece mahogany body, all with accurate light ageing.Neck/FingerboardGlued-in mahogany neck with distinctive 59 profile, one-piece rosewood fingerboard with cellulose inlays.FinishImpressively dark, rich Cherry Sunburst finish, subtly aged to match that of the original guitarElectronicsCustom Buckers wound to accurately re-create the original PAFs. Year of Manufacture -2013Serial Number -CC03A140Case - cc Gibson hard caseCondition - Investment GradeWeight - 9.1Please email or call us on 01425 478135 for detailsThe 1960 Les Paul "The Babe" is Gibson Custom's Collector's Choice #3, a remake of an early '60s transitional Les Paul equipped with Bigsby vibrato.1960 Les PaulThe 52 year old well preserved instrument labeled as "The Babe", was owned by four owners and currently belongs to blues icon Joe Bonamassa. This very limited remake will be based off the said 1960 Les Paul 0-0137 otherwise known as The Babe. The original owner of this guitar recalls that he purchased this Les Paul from the proceeds of a bumper season's grain haul, it was a decision that left him unable to buy an engagement ring. Upon ordering the guitar, he was asked whether he preferred a "redder" or "more orange" sunburst finish, and opted for the former - which resulted in what is described as a "Cherry Tea Burst" finish. The Gibson Custom 1960 Les Paul The Babe gets the same finish on a special two-piece plain maple top. They are carved from hand selected woods that closely resemble the grain pattern of the original. The body is then hand-aged to mimic the gently aged patina of Bonamassa's guitar. The back, body and neck is made of one-piece mahogany finished in dark Analine red dye, while the top and the rosewood fingerboard are bound in vintage-accurate plastics.Just like the original, the guitar features a heftier neck profile, with the one-piece quarter-sawn neck measuring .920" deep at the first fret and 1.01" at the 12th. The original PAF pickups were also copied in detail, producing an Alnico III magnet pickup with the same number of turns and correct coil wire.1960 Les PaulOther vintage features include acrylic trapezoid inlays, Vintage Reissue fret wires, tortoise side dots, aged hardware, single-band green tuner keys, gold "Top Hat" knobs without silver inserts, and reproduction "Bumble Bee" tone caps. The guitar aims to provide a fortunate few players and collectors with an exact recreation of "The Babe" as humanly possible. The Gibson Custom Collector's Choice #3 1960 Les Paul "The Babe" came with a price tag of $9,409.
